I really like when couples pick meaningful rather than popular locations for their engagement session. Don’t get me wrong, I love shooting in Downtown Detroit and on Belle Isle and all the other popular places. My own engagement photos were not done in any meaningful location because we didn’t really have one (except Granite City, the place of our first date LOL!). But honestly, as you can see from these photos, they’re not about the location anyway. It’s just a backdrop for the couple — this is the way I approach sessions!
I met up with Korrie and Zack at Westland Baptist Church, a church Zack grew up in and his grandfather built. We spent some time in the woods behind the church on a Sunday morning, just romping through the trail. The temperature was actually really warm for an October morning, but fall was definitely in the air.
We then headed to downtown Plymouth to EG Nick’s, a bar where they had their first date, for a few more shots. They shared some beers, I stood very far away and snapped away, letting them just do their thing. The way that they make each other laugh is my favorite. It’s so sweet to watch and even sweeter to see in these images.
I cannot wait for their October wedding!
