Last December, I got a message out of the blue. Mike was going to propose and he wanted me to capture it. He choose Shain Park in Birmingham, Michigan because he grew up nearby and they often would go downtown together. Plus the Christmas lights made it even more romantic!

I was so excited! I’d never been asked to shoot a proposal and I’d been waiting for someone, anyone, hopefully a friend of mine, would be getting engaged. No such thing was on my horizon so I’m glad Mike found me and I was able to hide behind a light pole and watch as Mike asked Ashlee to be his wife. I’d never watched a proposal before and even though I was nervous because this was my first rodeo, but I still got choked up. Ashlee did too, as you could see by her reaction.

The Christmas lights made the whole thing so dreamy and even though I was so nervous about lighting, the photos came out amazing. I’m hoping for some more night sessions this year because playing with light is fun.
