I met Jeff and Lauren at the Red Run Golf Club, where they are members, the Saturday after Thanksgiving for an early morning engagement session. November is probably my favorite month to shoot in, especially in Michigan, and these two were my last session of 2017. We took advantage of the empty golf course, and then headed to downtown Royal Oak for some urban shots.

Jeff and Lauren actually went to high school together but didn’t start dating until much later. It’s so surprising how often I’m hearing that story these days! It makes me feel unoriginal meeting Joshua online, haha! Nonetheless, we had a great morning chatting about work, photography, our dogs, and restaurants — they had so many great recommendations and opinions!

Most of my couples are really goofy and giggly. Maybe it’s my bad jokes, who knows. But these guys had THE BEST serious faces. Seriously. I was so excited to find a couple that could pull off a serious look without RBF. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for joyful photos. But sometimes mixing it up and getting that super serious shot is fun!
