Andrew and Samantha’s Grand Belle wedding in Holly, Michigan was the perfect summer day and the best way to kick off my big return to shooting after my second maternity leave. Nestled amid picturesque landscapes, this historic venue served as the perfect backdrop for a summer wedding.

Andrew and Samantha met while in college at the University of Michigan – you’ll see that come into play during their beautiful first look where they exchanged such thoughtful gifts, the last being a jersey for Samantha with her new last name on it! Samantha also wore a pin to commemorate her time with Michigan engineering. Though we didn’t have an engagement session because these traveled all the way from Washington to celebrate their wedding with their families and friends, it was such a lovely day spent with them! They got it all – beautiful weather, a fantastic sunset, and nighttime photos!

The surrounding area of the Grand Belle was once part of a 300 acre apple orchard, and once it even housed a horse! The Grand Belle was restored by its current ownership to become an event venue starting in 2012. The barn has gorgeous woodwork throughout and has an enchanting exterior grounds. The couple choose the venue because of its charm and the outdoors.

Something unique about this wedding was that Andrew and his crew wanted to tailgate before the wedding. So we skipped standard getting ready photos and did some of them hanging out tailgating! I loved this touch.

Andrew and Samantha took full advantage of the outdoors for their photos and ceremony. They said their sweet vows under the trees and a beautifully decorated arbor. Their reception, which took place in the barn itself, was beautifully decorated and had a packed dance floor. I couldn’t resist asking to pull open the bar doors for an epic shot at the end of the night with the dance floor and lit barn behind them. It’s one of my favorite photos of 2023!
