Newborn lifestyle sessions are some of my favorite sessions to capture. A new addition to your family is always exciting and documenting the first moments as a family is what I always focus on during my newborn lifestyle sessions. Though your newborn is the star of the show (and I plan on longer sessions in order to give him or her plenty of time to eat, be rocked, etc), I love capturing the whole family together, as well as big brother or sister with their new sibling. Newborn sessions are done in the comfort of your home, with minimal props and outfits, with the goal if capturing your family in a low-key, genuine way.

What you can expect
A go-with-the-flow attitude grabbing both posed and unposed moments of both the newborn and family members. I plan up to two hours of time to ensure we have time to stop for feedings, comforting, and to ultimately make the session as laid back as possible. I bring along a selection of wraps and simple props for individual shots of baby but you are welcome to use special outfits, blankets, etc.

to celebrate the anticipation of pregnancy
Welcoming a new family member is incredible but so is the anticipation of pregnancy. Whether it’s your first or fourth baby, there’s something special about waiting on that little one. Maternity sessions celebrate the chapter before you become a family of three (or four or six)!

What you can expect
You can expect to be guided into both poses and natural moments through direction (as much as you need). It often feels like you’re doing the same thing over and over again, but I can assure you that I’m capturing a variety of angles and compositions so you have a variety to choose from when we’re done. Basically – don’t worry about anything but what to wear and how you do your hair!
It’s important to schedule your maternity session between 32-36 weeks gestation. I recommend this timing because you’ll be bumping but you probably won’t be unable to get around.

Frequently asked questions
What is the booking process?
I only take on a limited number of newborns each month to ensure I can fit everyone in. Contact me with your due date below and I’ll get back to you. To officially secure the session, I’ll send over a contract and invoice for the booking retainer. The signed contract and a $150 non-refundable retainer are required to secure your session. Everything is done online to make it easy peasy for you (and me!).
How do we schedule?
I do not select a date for newborn sessions until after birth unless you are having a scheduled c-section. I find babies come early or late and it’s best to wait until you come home from the hospital to pencil in the official date on the calendar. In general, I do newborn sessions on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I only take on a limited number of sessions and ensure due dates aren’t close together to make sure I can fit everyone in.
What's the best time for a newborn session?
I find newborns are best to photograph in the first 3 weeks of life. For premies, you can photograph up to 6-8 weeks after birth. I aim to schedule within these timelines for best results.
Do i need special props/wraps?
You don’t need anything special for your session – I bring wraps and simple props to use. If you do have something you’d like to use, that’s totally fine!
What should we wear?
After you book, I’ll send over my helpful hints and tips, but to sum it up, comfortable clothes you can move in and neutral colors always work well!
How do I receive my photos and when?
All of my images are delivered via an online gallery so you can view and download them wherever you are! You’ll also be able to order professional prints, albums, and books through your gallery.
