There is something so special about those first days of life which a fresh 48 session captures so perfectly. Babies change so very fast so capturing them right away seems daunting (and it is!) but it’s a time you will probably want to look back on over and over again as your baby grows. This Royal Oak fresh 48 session was an opportunity for this family to introduce big brother to baby brother, as well as capture some documentary photos of the hospital room.

The Natural Birthing Center at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital has such beautiful rooms with beautiful light – wish we could all be so spoiled in birth – and it made it so easy to capture this Royal Oak fresh 48 session.

Fresh 48 sessions are different from typical newborn sessions as they focus on capturing the little details of baby in a more documentary way – there is no big focus on props, wrapping baby, or perfecting the spaces. It’s also much shorter so that it can be done quickly in between feedings and rest time – and you definitely need rest time after giving birth.
