Meadow Brook Hall, nestled within the enchanting landscape of Rochester, Michigan, is a true gem for those seeking a picturesque backdrop for their summer wedding. Imagine a warm, sunny day, a meandering garden, and the elegance of a historic mansion. Rachel and Brian’s summer Meadow Brook Hall wedding was a perfect example of how beautiful this venue is in mid-August. I’ve seen these two through it all – from proposal to the big day! I was so excited to spend it with them.
As you may know, I love a historic building and have a soft spot for photographing at them. My inner liberal arts nerd comes out and I just adore it! (see my other favorite historic building The Whitney here)
The bride and her crew began their day at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan. The Royal Park is one of my favorite hotels in the area and their bridal suites are simply stunning spots for getting ready for your wedding! After photographing all of Rachel’s gorgeous details and accessories, she got dressed with the help of her older sister and matron of honor, Lisa, and her mom.
Brian and his crew began their day at Meadow Brook Hall and slipped into their classic, timeless black tuxes in the mansion. They were able to take photographs near some classic cars, which added to the personal touches of this wedding day.
Summer Gardens & Elegance of Meadow Brook Hall
A summer Meadow Brook Hall wedding allows you to celebrate your love amidst the serene beauty of nature. The lush gardens, blooming flowers, and towering trees provide an enchanting setting for your special day. You’ll find no shortage of idyllic spots for your ceremony, whether it’s beneath a canopy of leaves or amidst a sea of colorful blooms. The couple opted for no first look and saw each other first down the aisle during their outdoor ceremony in the Rock Garden. On cobblestone steps next to a beautiful garden on both sides, Rachel and Brian said their vows.
Historic Elegance of a Summer Meadow Brook Hall Wedding
Meadow Brook Hall, with its Tudor-revival architecture, offers an air of timeless elegance. A wedding at this historic mansion will transport you and your guests to another era, adding a touch of grandeur to your celebration. The interior is adorned with stunning details, making it a captivating backdrop for your photos. We were able to use the entire grounds for Rachel and Brian’s portraits. The grounds are versatile – it’s one of the only venues in the Detroit area with both stunning nature backdrops in the form of gardens and lush grass/treelines, as well as historical architecture. We used both!
The Perfect Tented Summer Wedding
When you opt for a summer wedding at Meadow Brook Hall, your reception happens in a beautiful tent outside the mansion next to the gardens. This tent was the nicest I had ever been inside – truly an extension of the property instead of an afterthought! The cuisine was perfect and the dance floor packed! Rachel and Brian had the best family and friends to celebrate alongside.
From the couple: “Madalyn is amazing! She was our photographer throughout our whole wedding journey (proposal, engagement session, and wedding day), and my husband and I couldn’t be happier with her work! She is so nice, talented, and pays attention to details. She was so much fun to work with and makes you feel very comfortable. Madalyn does beautiful work and you will not be disappointed! We can’t wait to work with her again in the future for Christmas tree farm sessions and other family photo sessions.”
