In the spring, you just never know how the weather in Michigan will turn out so for this spring Ann Arbor maternity session, we opted to use Matthaei Botanical Gardens, which is one of my favorite spots in Ann Arbor for indoor sessions.

Amanda and Deanna are some of my favorite clients, dating back to their adorable engagement session, and since then we have seen each other for yearly tree farm photos. But expecting their first child, I wanted the perfect spring Ann Arbor maternity session for them and I think I delivered!

These two were team green, meaning they found out baby’s sex at the birth. Spoiler alert – it’s a girl!

I love Matthaei for a spring Ann Arbor maternity session for so many reasons, including the fact that the weather is always perfect inside the greenhouse, the permit fee is affordable, and there are three different rooms that give different vibes so you don’t feel like you’re just in a studio with set walls and furniture. In addition, Matthaei has a lovely exterior which I’ve never been able to use for a session but I’d like to sometime!

Maternity sessions are sometimes overlooked as cheesy but there is truly nothing like the expectation of meeting your little one. I say it from experience – pregnancy and little babies are fleeting and it’s so wonderful to have a memory of that chapter in your family.
