Tyler and Lindsey’s spring Iroquois Club wedding was one of those typical Michigan March days – we really didn’t know what to expect. The weather was all over the place! Never fear – these two rolled with the punches and trusted me as I made a quick pivot decision on their portrait location.
We should start with the fact that Tyler and Lindsey are two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. I mean, Lindsey is a preschool teacher so you get the vibe. I had so much fun hanging with them at a June engagement session at Gallup Park – literally we had the PERFECT weather and golden hour – so naturally their March wedding threw me for a bit of a curveball weather wise. One of my favorite parts of this wedding was the fact that Lindsey wore her eyeglasses – I think more brides should do that! It just was HER!
After getting ready, our plan for this spring Iroquois Club wedding was to head over to Troy Farm Park for a first look and some photos. The weather was actually looking sunny so I green-lit it. However, the boys and I got there to find some major wind and raindrops. So I called Lindsey and said, let’s meet at Goldner Walsh, so we did! We had this back-up plan in place because we knew it was March, but what a pivot.
Goldner Walsh, in addition to hosting weddings, allows for hourly portrait sessions for a small fee. Luckily Tyler and Lindsey had a small-ish wedding party so it was easy to find the space inside the warm greenhouse to pose everyone and facilitate a first look (so so sweet and emotional!). Lindsey told me she had actually wanted to host their wedding at Goldner Walsh but ended up shifting things based on time of year and so she got her wish to have her portraits there!
After all of the photos, which we had plenty of time for (thanks timeline planning!), we headed to the Iroquois Club, an elegant yet charming smaller venue in Bloomfield Hills. Both the ceremony and reception took place there, making it easy for guests! Their spring Iroquois Club wedding ceremony, officiated by a friend was so personal and thoughtful. Then the party began!
To complete our wacky weather day, I stole the couple away from their spring Iroquois Club wedding for a quick nighttime photo with falling snow. It wouldn’t be Michigan with such an insane shift, but it made for the sweetest way to end our night!
