Chelsea and Henry’s summer DIA engagement session was classically beautiful. The DIA is a staple for Detroit engagement sessions – and for good reason, it’s a stunning building, made of a gorgeous marble facade. It’s one of the most recognizable places in Detroit – I even took my own wedding photos here many years ago.
A summer DIA engagement session for Chelsea and Henry included use of both the front and back of the museum. Since it was cloudy, it was easy to use both sides of the building without getting blinded by the sun as the front of the building faces west.
One of my favorite parts of using the DIA for engagement sessions is that there are some lovely treelined walkways alongside the building, and lovely landscaping which makes for variety in backdrops so you’re not just tied to the building. One of the things to keep in mind is that this location is sometimes very popular so if you can plan on using this location on a weekday, it’s a better bet!
After the DIA, we headed over to New Center for another elegant facade – Cadillac Place. This spot isn’t as highly trafficked as the DIA, but it’s lovely in a different way. I love using locations that aren’t as popular so you can really get the creative juices flowing!
Chelsea and Henry met online in 2020 and chose to have a small intimate wedding at San Morello. Their style is truly impeccable and I loved being able to get to know them and photograph them!
