Wright & Co Detroit Wedding – Joe & Kaitlyn

One of the most unique weddings I’ve been able to photograph was Kaitlyn and Joe’s Wright & Co wedding. It was truly one of the most beautiful fall days for such a lovely and fun couple. Their meet cute story is just something you don’t hear much about anymore – they met through their brother and sister – who are MARRIED! Yes, they were the best man and maid of honor in their brother and sister’s wedding, and now it’s their turn.

We started the day with some getting ready photos for Joe, joined by his brother and nephew, at the Westin Book Cadillac. I absolutely love Joe’s choice of suit color – not only did it compliment him, it just was something different, which was fun to see!

We moved over to the Shinola Hotel to join Kaitlyn and her beautiful crew. Kaitlyn’s dress and shoes just fit her personality perfectly. She had a special moment with her dad and then it was off to St. Joseph Shrine in Eastern Market for the ceremony!

The reason I actually got this job was because of my photos of Nathan and Jordan’s wedding at St. Joseph Shrine. This church is very historic and very beautiful. Due to its positioning, the light that comes through the stained glass behind the altar is just stunning. Joe and Kaitlyn’s faith was very important in planning their wedding and they had a beautiful ceremony that incorporated some of Joe’s Filipino heritage as well.

As part of this Wright & Co Detroit wedding, we headed downtown right after the ceremony and had fun taking photos in Parker’s Alley and on Woodward. This wedding party was a hoot and I just love the colors of the bridesmaids. Most important, Joe and Kaitlyn were just SO happy the whole day. Nothing got them down at all. The light we got at the end of their portrait session was amazing.

I think the best part of this Wright & Co Detroit wedding was honestly the dinner. Wow, I have never had such a lovely meal at a wedding! Joe and Kaitlyn bought out Wright & Co and they had a menu put together for a family style meal. My assistant and I still talk about it – it was truly amazing. Everyone was able to mingle and enjoy after some fun speeches from family.

On maybe the most interesting note – I lit my hair on fire at this Wright & Co Detroit wedding! It was a first and I hope the last time I experience something like that. I happened to lean back into a candle and whoosh. All was well though!
