Shannon and Sam are a Detroit-loving couple who live in the city, so it just made sense to use one of my favorite Detroit spots for a Dequindre Cut engagement session. I love the Dequindre Cut because it’s a good mix of grunge, art, and nature. It’s a fun place to go walk and explore – even if you’re not getting your photo taken.
We started our Dequindre Cut engagement session exploring the graffiti – it was actually a busy fall Sunday on the cut – lots of bikers! I always have a lot of fun using the art as part of composing photos.
Shannon and Sam are very laid back and easy to talk to. They met online and had their first date at a brewery (sounds familiar right, that’s Josh and I as well), so it made sense to head over to Jolly Pumpkin for part 2 of our session. They had some beers and told me about some movies they enjoy together, and we chatted about politics and the general state of the world.
Wait until you see their fall wedding at The Whitney on the blog soon!
Here’s another Dequindre Cut engagement session in the summer and another where we also hit up nearby Eastern Market.
