I love a laid back, garden wedding, which is exactly how Kyla and Perry’s Matthaei Botanical Gardens wedding played out! These two were so intentional with how they planned and executed their wedding day. The day was colorful, fun, light-hearted, and relaxed, which is exactly how I like it!
We started with a ceremony at Matthaei Botanical Gardens, which I have been inside of many times, but this time I got to use the outdoor gardens and experience a ceremony in their perennial garden. Kyla and Perry walked down the aisle together to their officiant, a good friend of theirs throughout their relationship.
After they exchanged vows, we headed into the gardens for family and couples photos. In August, the gardens were in full bloom – so much color and whimsy! I enjoyed hanging out with Kyla and Perry as they were down to earth, fun, and just lovely to be around (as were their friends and family).
After a brief break, the couple and their families set up their reception at the Ann Arbor Art Center. They chose a colorful palette and did so much themselves, I was impressed!
The cocktail hour was in the first floor gallery at the Ann Arbor Art Center, which had a colorful, whimsical exhibit by Quinn Faylor. I felt like it fit the wedding and the couples’ personalities perfectly. I don’t think they could have planned to have a better exhibition in the gallery!
I adore all weddings, but smaller, intimate days really have my heart. I think the sweetest touch was the fact that Perry and Kyla wrote personalized thank you notes to their guests on their place cards. What a lovely idea!
